We didn’t get to say goodbye...but we’re gonna!
December, 2019
Dear Renegades friends,
Being a "country dance" DJ is a little bit different than being a country music DJ or country radio personality. It requires some additional knowledge beyond BPM, structure, song duration and intro/outro lengths. It often requires matching up dance names (or sometimes comical dance demonstrations in the booth) to particular artist tracks or specific beat patterns. It also requires some forethought in nightly programming so that dancers are not faced with, for example, three Canadian Stomp/Two-Step songs in a row.
Because of this additional skill, our “residencies” tend to be long-term, and patrons become great friends - as I have with you.
The “autograph hats” you see below represent my previous 11 years of being a country dance DJ at two prior venues. The first venue decided they were "going to go in a different direction", and the second was occasioned by my final relocation to Florida in 2011. In both cases, the adults agreed that a final performance/good-bye party was a good idea for me, the venue, and friends we had all become.
Those autographs that you see are not those of country artists, but they do belong to “country stars” - my patrons, dancers and friends made during those 11 years. Many (including "The Woman in my Life" - Shana) remain my friends to this very day,
I would like the same keepsake to remember my time at Renegades with all of you, so I have ordered myself a new felt hat.
We’ll finish these plans when it arrives.

And then there were three. Thanks for coming out for the hat signing and a real goodbye, my friends.
